Dato: 10.01.2024 Svartype: Med merknad It is extremely unfortunate to learn that the Government has proposed to cut funding for the private schools. This proposal will deeply impact the right for quality education of our choice for our children, impact us hard financially, impact our children from Norway to integrate with the world with global vision in 21st century, impact business organisations, society, and Norway as whole. In this 21st Century, learning only Norwegian is not enough. One must have a global outlook coupled with an world class education which will produce students from Norway who can take on, respect all ethnicities and religions, work together and collaborate in every filed of learnings, do business, solve global problems, solve global challenges, work with nations across the world. My children study in British International of school of Stavanger and I can proudly say with confidence that this school meets our expectations, provides very high-quality educations, grooms our children to be responsible citizens and a caring human being as part of the world as global village. Norway has severe skill shortage in many sectors specially high technology and energy sectors. Many immigrants like me came to Norway from India on job offers to serve industries, organisations in these sectors. The first thing that we, as parents and immigrants, checked if there was any international school for our children to study which can seamlessly integrate with continuing education from their previous schools. BISS or similar private schools met our requirement. We, simply, cannot send our children to Norwegian public schools which only teaches in Norwegian language. Today and in days to come, Norway needs to directly engage with countries specially India, China who will contribute 50% of global economic growth, GDP and will provide opportunities for Norwegian children and generations to come. For immigrants like me working in high technology and energy sector, quality English education is the 1st condition before coming to Norway. High quality Education in private school matters in our lives. BISS has students come from more than 50 nationalities. This gives our children a great chance to see, respect and grow with all nationalities and religions. BISS is a world by itself. Biss offers education which helps student to get quality global educations and bring that value back to Norway in future. It is in the very interest of Norway, it is of paramount importance that Norwegian government must support much more the private schools including international schools, produce world class students and citizens, train more in high quality english educations, bring more private international schools and private world class Universities with Norwegian campus, spend much more in education rather than cutting the funds and diverting money somewhere. The world is much larger. Any children from Norway must have a deep-rooted feeling of FREEDOM and Freedom to choose any schools of their choice right from childhood. They must be so educated that they are able to embrace the global opportunities and challenges and also reach out to the world to work together without facing language, cultural, religion being any barrier. We can clearly see that a lot of funds are being diverted to fund the victims of wars outside. Lots of constructions of roads going on. We are not against it. But these MUST not be at the cost of education of our children and our freedom to choose which school they must go to. As high tax paying citizens of Norway, we also deserve to have this freedom to decide the schools where our children will go. Hence, we ardently request the government to consider our concerns and legitimate expectations that no funding cuts will be made for the private schools. Let our children grow in a fair, free and open society and schools. Thank you.
