I fully support a change to the quarantine regulations, which are currently in place. The current regulations are not only discriminatory towards people who are not rich enough to own a property in Norway, while living abroad, it is also unsensible to have people who do have their official residence with for eg their own parents, quarantine at that place. My partner and I are not in the business of killing off our elderly relatives; we have even managed to keep them alive for the entire year. We aren't going to start changing this now, for Christmas. In October we rented a cabin in the vicinity of their home, to make sure we quarantine first before staying with them at Christmas. We have also paid excessively for private covid tests prior to travelling and we have been sensible in going out over the last two weeks. Putting us in a quarantine hotel would obliterate all these sensible precautions as the quarantine hotels are incredibly unsanitary, as shown online by people who have been imprisoned. Nowhere in Europe have quarantine hotels been introduced, so it was a shock to see Norway deviated from the very sensible passenger locator forms we see all around Europe. The uncertainty of being able to travel caused much distress in our family and I am sure it caused equal distress in other families as well. An official apology from the Norwegian government would be appreciated. The excuse of "we had to do this" doesn't stack up, when all other European countries have installed passenger locator forms and quarantine checks by police over 6 months ago. I would also advise the goverment to do proper police checks on employers who need to quarantine their workers. If the government believes foreigners bring in the contagion: check capitalism first. People like my family should not have to suffer consequences of big businesses not adhering to the rules. Please put your sensible hat back on. You did well all throughout the year. Introducing the quarantine hotels was a massive faux pas which should never have happened. There is light at the end of the covid tunnel and I wish Norway nothing but the best. But, have some faith in people who do the right thing.
