From the Department of Research and Development, Oslo Metropolitan University

1. What should be the broad objectives of a new ERA?

We agree that the three broad objectives outlined in the ERAC opinion on the future of the ERA should be prioritised: a. Be wholly inclusive and collaborative, and increase research quality throughout Europe, b. Be seamless and connected, and drive Europe’s competitiveness, c. Be inspiring and open, and contribute to wider European policy objectives.

1. Which elements in the changing socio-economic and political context, and their related challenges, can a new ERA help address?

2. How can a new ERA ensure stronger political engagement from the Member States? What would it take for you to engage more strongly in ERA? A public trust initiative with a science-policy interface

3. What new policy initiatives should the Commission and the Member States engage in to deliver on the objectives of a new ERA?

4. What are the needs to be addressed?

Please see comments made in questions 1 to 3

5. Taking into account your national specificities, what should be the broad objectives of a new ERA?

The Department of Research and Development, Oslo Metropolitan University, welcomes the proposed objectives in the ERAC opinion. Under the ERA objective Be seamless and connected, and drive Europe’s competitiveness we would like to see an emphasis on more seamless cross-sectoral investments in R&I within the knowledge triangle.

6. Are the current ERA priorities still valid or should new ones be included?

The current ERA is still valid, but can include the ones suggested by the EUA
