I work as an IT professional and contribute to the country as a taxpayer and responsible member of society. Over the years, Norway has become my home, where I live and work while cherishing the values this nation stands for. My parents have played an indispensable role in shaping my life. Despite their limited means, they made immense sacrifices to ensure my education and future success. In Indian culture, it is customary for parents to live with their children in their later years, fostering mutual care and strong emotional bonds. However, the current policies in Norway make it extremely challenging for elderly parents to reunite with their children. Even when families like mine are willing and able to provide complete financial support without burdening public resources, such reunifications are often denied. For single parents with no other close family, this separation can result in loneliness and emotional hardship during their most vulnerable years. Granting elderly parents the opportunity to live with their children would not only improve their quality of life but also strengthen family values. Policies that enable responsible reunification under specific conditions would reflect Norway’s commitment to compassion and inclusivity while alleviating unnecessary suffering for immigrant families. I sincerely request that this issue be reconsidered on humanitarian grounds to bring hope and dignity to those who call Norway their home. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
